Impacts of Non-Buddhist Influences

Here the project highlights the influences and exchanges of the two major non-Buddhist religions Daoism and Manichaeanism, the wider pan-Indian tradition, as well as the presence of Sogdian deities in Buddhist texts and art. Cultural meetings as expressed in Tangut Buddhism, which represents a triangulation involving local Tangut, Sinitic and Tibetan traditions are also dealt with.
