Impacts of Non-Buddhist Influences

Impact_image.jpg Here the project will highlight the influences and exchanges of the two major non-Buddhist religions Daoism and Manichaeanism, the wider pan-Indian tradition, as well as the presence of Sogdian deities in Buddhist texts and art. Cultural meetings as expressed in Tangut Buddhism, which represents a triangulation involving local Tangut, Sinitic and Tibetan traditions will also be dealt with.
